about ryan

“Brings to mind the work of Donald Miller, mixed with the vulnerability of NPR’s ‘This American Life.’ Pemberton is a thinking Christian who does not shy away from thought provoking questions about faith. A writer to watch.”
–Michael Morris, Author of Man in the Blue MoonSlow Way Home, and A Place Called Wiregrass

i tell stories

sometimes for my clients. sometimes about moving to england and studying at oxford. sometimes about life and faith and God.

i’m a former marketing / public relations guy from the pacific northwest who left the states to study theology at oxford and write in a way that helps others see Christ’s in-breaking Kingdom in the darkness of our world. i lived in c.s. lewis’s old home, earned my oxford degree, then i went to duke divinity school. now i’m a university minister in berkeley, california, working with uc berkeley students at first pres berkeley.

my memoir on calling, called: my journey to c.s. lewis’s house and back again, was published in 2015 (leafwood publishers). my next project, walking with c. s. lewis: a spiritual guide through his life and writings, will be released in early 2018 (lexham press).
